This year's card:
"What a beautiful family you have. They are getting so grown up.
They keep me busy seeing doctors and hosp. Right now it's thick blood. They have e on 2 Coumadin 1mg. every week have to have finger prick. Oh well, guess it could be worse. Finally hit 86 the 9th. Still going good. Keep busy. Still do gutter and windows. I have too many of those-- my pass time is watching neighbors HA
Dear Fred does my yards when needed. I do his wash -- the phone rang ad I forgot what I was to say. I'm getting a lot of that lately. I think we're in for a cold winter. The oak nuts are falling like rain. One hit me on the head. SORE you bet. It must of hit a nerve cause the pain when down my neck to left shoulder -- Doc say it'll take 6 weeks to get rid of the soreness. hurts the worse when I try to look up. It'll take time but it's coming so I can turn better. The sun is out. Oh how good it feels. It was like fog this A.M. Rod has been gone 19 years, I sure do miss him.
Peace, oh how I wish. Sure is costing us a lot.
Do have a great year if its possible. Gas is now 3.00 a gal.
I keep hearing its the golden years, I just haven't found it yet.

This year's tone was a bit different. I still got the medical info, and the weather report (several of both really...), but this is the first time she has mentioned my great uncle Rodney. He was a great guy, I really liked him and I'd be lying if I told you my eyes stayed dry when I read how much she missed him.
I think I'm going to sit down and write her a proper letter and let her know how much I enjoy hearing from her. She really is quite a colorful character.

Your great aunt sounds like a sweet, funny lady. I'm so glad you have each other!
All of us have or had an Aunt who stays within our hearts. I treasure what memories I have of those who have passed on and the ones still with me. Infact one called last night, she has always made me feel special, even at this age. It takes a special person to unconditional care about family members.
What a gift it is to have such characters who love us for who we are and give so much just by being who they are. I hope that I am that Aunt soon to be a great Aunt, who is remembered for adding something unique to each niece and nephews life. I make a point to keep in touch with all my living special Aunts, I only have two left. Thanks for sharing!
