Lyli Lyli bang bang

It started last night "Moooooooommmmmm...can you please please please cut my bangs?". We had just gotten back home after being at Aysha's graduation party...all day. And I had cut my finger pretty badly trying to transfer cake to Tupperware, cutting hair last night was the last thing I wanted to do. So I promised her that the next time she took a shower I'd cut her bangs if she really really really wanted me to. After all, she's 7 and sometimes things she wants one day are completely forgotten the next. She's not had bangs since she was a toddler, and knowing the upkeep involved, I was hoping she'd forget about this. But it wasn't meant to be.
First thing this morning..."Mom, I'm getting in the shower so you can cut my bangs". *sigh*. "OK Lyli, but you need to know that once I cut them the only way to get rid of them is to grow them out, and that's going to take awhile, probably a year or more. You can't just cut them off to get rid of them." "Yup, OK Mom".
Here she is before..looking happy and hopeful.

Here she is after...she had just gotten done saying "I don't want them anymore, cut them off!" *BIG SIGH* Shes finally getting used to them and has been in the bathroom playing with her hair for about a 1/2 hour at this point. Silly Lyli.

I find it very interesting how in the pre-bangs photo, Lyli is all cute little 7 year old smiles, and then in the post-bang photo, she looks like she's a going-on-16 little woman. LOL!

She sure is a cutie, with or without bangs!

Yeah, I was trying to ignore that ;-P that was her " I'm mad, but you have the camera out so I'll stand here" pose. I'm not looking forward to her teenage years..I have a feeling I'm going to have to deal with a lot of those looks. LOL

Congratulations to the graduate! Yes, quite a difference in the pre-bang/post-bang photos. I like bangs, my girls don't. Olivia with the hair to the waist cut it the other day when her brother was "watching" her. She nicely trimmed on each side of her face and actually did a pretty good job...and she's three. It's going to have to be blended into the rest of her hair, but she starts crying if I talk about the hairdresser. EXTREMELY SHY (nothing like me) and afraid of people. I guess I have to do it, but I don't want to. What if I mess it up?

My motto when it comes to hair stuff (cuts colors ect) is "It will grow out". My older boy cut his bangs "off" (hence the speech to Lyli about bangs have to be grown out not cut off) not too long ago...we're now in the process of growing that out...boys...ugh lol :-P
At least Olivia did an ok job..and just remember..it WILL grow :-D and in the meantime...there are alwys hats :P lol good luck :-D

Well, at least she didn't try and cut them herself ;D I have the same rule about hair - it'll grow out. That was a rule I learned myself while a hairdresser. I wish I had photos of some of the mistakes. Then again, maybe not.

Sorry..I meant to comment on your poor cut finger (reading about it made me all queasy), but Lyli's adorable photos made me forget. ;)

I hope it'll heal quickly and well! I think that's the first time I've heard about someone cutting their finger transfering cake...not trying to laugh at your pain! Honestly!

Wow! Having bangs really changes her look and makes her appear older. Just what you wanted, right? I think it's great she waited for you to do it. How many of us cut our own when we were her age. I know when I did it at the age of 6 it didn't turn out so well.
