Turkey anyone?

Shot from my living room window this morning. Makes me hungry for Thanksgiving!

I just had a big turkey dinner yesterday! I had to make room in my freezer for the garden veggies. We also measure distance here by time. I'm also in the middle of nowhere (30 mi from Canada) and started homeschooling my two adopted kids(ages 10 and 11) this year. I also have 3 grown sons.

Are those wild turkeys? I was dreaming of Rupert last night. He needs to become dinner. No one wants to pluck him. Why did I ever think I would want to? I have got to stop raising animals to eat. It's not that I mind killing them...I'm just not interested in the work afterwards.

They are wild..they hang out around the apple trees here. A tip for plucking....after you dip them in hot water, put them in a garbage bag and use the outside of the bag to grab the feathers and pluck..directly into the bag...MUCH less mess.

I keep wanting dh to bag one, but he's not had much luck yet...granted, he's not tried very hard either. Yummmm!

Interesting tip for plucking! I should try it next time we process chickens.
