New Additions

Our new meat investment. We love the bacon in this house....this should go toward filling our freezer next year :) We haven't named them yet...I was thinking something totally unoriginal like Bacon and Hammy....The kids are saying Spork and Grumpig....The Major just threw out Neo and Morpheus. Like they'll be doing Kung-fu Piggy in the pen.....They don' t look that ambitions :P

Well, are't they just damn cute. Odd time of year for pigs? We get pigs in the Spring (that means May for us) and butcher in the Fall (which means end of Sept.). We hope to raise pigs to 200 lbs. What will you raise your pigs to be? I am hoping to get some next year, but things are looking pretty gloom.

it is an odd time of year...but the price was right. Pigs in the spring here are expensive! We found them and decided it was worth it to get them even if it was just so they'd eat some of the bazillion zucchini we have! Im looking at a target weight of between 170-220...we'll see though. I've never done pigs before.

They're so cute!! I like Kim's name suggestion. ;) Actually, I like your hubby's suggestion, too, if for no other reason than your vision of kung fu piggies!

I think it's funny that you're encouraging your kids to name them! LOL! I always tell my kids that they can name the animals that we won't be eating. It doesn't bother them, but it does me (esp when we're eating, and they go, "so, was this Mr. Redwing or Grayotta?").

My friends and I have joked about naming the eating animals things like "Tasty", "Fried", and "Delicious". ;>
