Its been a day.

I started the day seeing my husband off for 2 1/2 weeks. I'm used to him travelling, and really 2 1/2 weeks is NOTHING compared to the year and a half he was gone, but it still makes me sad....and not ALL of the sadness is tied to the extra chores I inherit when he's gone, either. Really.
Just before he left I went out to the barn and Ada was in the process of giving birth...that was at about 7:30...she had obviously been in labor for awhile, the amniotic sac was gone and she was laying down and pushing and straining and grunting (brought me back a few years to my own labors...:P). By 9:30 she had made little to no progress. I had to go in....and I don't mean "in the house" . It was an interesting experience...and it gave me a lot of respect for midwives and obstetricians. In the end I had to pull/yank the 13lb ewe out of Ada's nether regions. Thankfully the long labor didn't kill her, and now they are happily (although how "happy" can you be when you just had a 13 lb kid yanked out of your hoohaw? ) munching hay in a deluxe lambing jug (Ha! no, she gets the WHOLE stall because that's where she was this morning and there is NO moving that sheep...she is such a pain in my backside!). To top off her day I had to put some antibiotics in a spot she wanted me nowhere near. THAT was a fun time.
There was an upside to my day though. UPS showed up with my sheets. Not just ANY sheets...these are 1200 (!!!!!) thread count Egyptian cotton/bamboo fiber (Is there anything you can't use bamboo for nowadays?) sheets. They feel like butter. I'm looking forward to 2 1/2 weeks of sleeping alone in my bed now! Well...kind of *wink* :-P lol

Well it's a good darn thing that those sheets showed up when they did - you needed SOME kind of reward for "going in"! ;D

Heehee...I like what Firefly Mom said!

You crack me up with your posts! I vote that you write and publish an autobiography. I'd buy it and have you autograph it too!

You are so brave. I can do a lot of things, but I don't think that is one of them. I would have froze and they all would have died. Can't wait to see them all in photographs. A whole farm tour would be nice. *hint hint*
