Vella

"Mom! Don't use the wide angle lens! It makes my nose look HUGE!"

She has a name...Vella seemed to stick and she responded to it almost immediately...unless she was absorbed in herding a chicken..then nothing worked :-P
This is Vella at 11 weeks. She's already learned "sit", "down", shes working on "stay" and she whines to go out. She is also working on the tunnel (we bought a starter agility kit) and loves the little jump. She learned how to get up the stairs this week...I suppose eventually she'll learn to come back down. I'd love to say shes crate trained, and it might be that while she's in the car she is (if I have to go somewhere I put the crate in the car and that's where she waits) ..but at home she's not. We tried putting her in the crate last night for bed...I've never heard a more pathetic dog...it was truly sad and brought tears to my eyes...mostly because I was laughing so hard at her attempt at howling. Like I said: pathetic. After 15 minutes I couldn't take it anymore and put her on our bed and she settled right down and went to sleep...and slept all night. Thankfully she's going to be fairly small, I couldn't imagine having something the size of a Great Dane or Irish Wolfhound sleeping on my bed, I'd be warm sure, but I think the lack of breathing when they laid on top of me might do me in eventually.
And now I'm off to attempt pie making with the children. wish me luck. Happy Thanksgiving to those of you who celebrate :-)

She's beautiful...and sounds to be very smart. I have six dumb dogs who don't know anything...or would that be eight dumb owners who can't teach them? :)

My son's best friends last name is Vela! He has MD and is in a wheelchair, and we love him to bits!

PERFECT name!

My tiny Yorkie sleeps in my armpit, so I feel for you!
LOL

Vella does suit her, and is a nice and unique name! She is such a beaut too.

I'm glad our dog is past the puppy days. She also howled in her crate. But, I'm glad we never gave in, because she is now one "serious" farm dog. And by "serious", I mean that she rolls in any poop and dead things she can find, every day. There's no way in heck we will allow her on our bed.

I love her name! She sounds like a smart dog -- mine is five years old and as dumb as they come!

She's a beautiful pup! You're brave to be doing the whole potty training thing. After the length of time it took to potty train my son, when it was time to get a dog I stipulated that it already had to be trained ;)

BTW, I'm doing my first ever blog giveaway. Each comment gets you an entry (but since yours is one of the blogs I stalk regularly, you've already garnered an entry just for being you :)
