Storage! Glorious Storage!
Mike has been busy this past week. He has been busily constructing a storage area upstairs in our garage. Our house, being over 100 years old is sorely lacking in storage of any kind. We seem to have lots of places that could be storage..but no real system or shelves to make the storage organized...which is irritating. I don't like piles of things..I prefer things put away in such a way that I can lay my hands on what I need if I happen to need it. This room is doing just that for me.
The first shelf 30" off the ground and 30" deep...giving us space for BIG totes on the shelf...and room for tents and Army stuff under the shelf. The other two shelves 24" in between and 24" deep. Enough room for regular totes and boxes. On the facing wall we put in a storage shelving unit we had that fits milk crates perfectly.
On one of the walls Mike installed peg board so we can hang stuff like bags and helmets, and he even installed two lights! It took almost the whole week to accomplish, and its not pretty..but its functional and thats what matters. Now we'll work on tearing down what we need to in the house and installing floors for the apprasial and we'll really feel like we've accomplished something :-D

I'm a tote person as well (but a weird one). I started out having to use all green totes. Then one day the store didn't have green. I had to get blue. That was hard to do. Now I have a couple purple (take what you can get in this town). I must have 50 totes of stuff (crap). My husband put some old grocery store shelving in the garage for me. Currently, everything has been taken down to run a new fuel line, but when I get it back up I'll post a photo. Woohoo hubby for a job well done! This will make things so much easier for you.
Wow, your hubby has been busy! You'll be able to fit tons of stuff on there (is it all filled yet? ;)
Now I can show my hubby these pix and say: "Build me one of those!"
Oh boy what I wouldn't do to have this kind of storage! I am so jealous!!!!!
I think I'm in love with your husband? ;D Can we rent him for a few weeks to do the same for us?
OK weird question for you . . . why did he put chicken wire around the top portion of the storage area if it's in the garage? What kind of creatures get into your garage, or should I even ask!!!!
LoL...Yeah..I was going to mention the chicken wire...it's up because occasionally a cat escapes into the garage and we didn't want them in or on the totes. Yea..im blaming the cats..really its the wild monkeys I keep over the garage...:-P lol
